...lots going on and a surpise for scott...

Last night we met with the pastor of our church (well technically it is Scott's church, part of him coming over was to talk about my membership) and it was a wonderful time. We explained how Scott and I came to be and what we are looking for from the church. We are going to start marriage counseling since we didn't do it before we got married. It might be a good thing we are doing it after because we are going to take a huge multiple choice test to see how compatible we are. So, regardless of if we match or not we are together forever! :) We are also going to do a class with the pastor which will allow me to find out more about the church and for Scott to have a re-fresher course on all the fun stuff he learned when he was in the 8th grade. I think between the counseling and the membership class Scott and I are really going to get some quality time together becoming closer to the Lord. Since the pastor came to our place I thought it was a perfect time to take some more pics of the place.

here is our dining room...

I'm in love with cooking and having the time and another person to cook for...last week I made a yummy dinner for our 2 month anniversary hehe...a yummo crab dip, and shrimp pasta in a tomato cream sauce it was Divine...a few nights later I made chicken enchiladas. They were super easy and I of course made the chicken extra spicy, Scott raved about how they were even better then next day at lunch!

Scott's birthday isn't until July 13th, but he managed to get his gift a few weeks early. Scott has been wanting golf clubs for a while and keeps asking for them for his birthday. I never really said yes or no as to whether or not that is what I was going to buy him. I've been looking for a while for a cheap set of clubs. He didn't want any thing too nice or expensive since he is just learning how to golf. Last weekend we stopped at Target to get snacks to go see The Hangover (EXCELLENT MOVIE) and happened to find ourselves way beyond the candy and found a golf set on sale. Of course it was Saturday night and the sale ended that night and I didn't have time to come back by myself. The deal was too good to pass up, $100 dollars for clubs and a bag, I had to tell him that if he really wanted them they were his. Happy early Birthday to my hubby. He was beyond excited to get the clubs. Below are a few pics of him with his new "baby" when we got home...

p.s. don't you love his new jeans?!

Ashlee is engaged!

My sister, Ashlee is engaged, I am so happy for her and I know she is beyond excited! She got engaged on June 5, 2009!

Here are some pic from the night...

This last pic is of all of us back at home...John, Scott and I are taking a shot to celebrate the engagement!

wedding planning, living room pics etc...

I really need to get better at blogging. I have officially starting the wedding planning. We of course already have the venue, but I have finally started looking at all the details that a wedding requires, including a budget. Weddings are ridiculously expensive!! the colors are going to be black and white with touches of Tiffany blue and fuchsia. (Meg I was looking at your weddings pics on facebook the other day for ideas and realized that my bridesmaid dresses are going to be similar to yours but the colors are swapped!)I have all these wonderful ideas but do not have a checkbook big enough to carry them out, such is life :) I'm thinking of going with a vintage/old hollywood/breakfast at Tiffany's theme. Another question that has been bouncing around my head is, "why are photographers so expensive?, apparently that is where the money is, I need to go back to school and become a photographer!

This past weekend was the first weekend since I moved up here that Scott and I didn't really do much. I think the farthest we drove all weekend was 15 miles. We finally went to the beach this weekend, and Scott even went in the water! The weather has been rather strange for Southern California, we've had rain a few times, including today and June gloom seems to be more gloomy than past years as well.

I think scott might be wondering what he got himself into when he said "I do"...

Since I am currently job free (doesn't that sound so much better than jobless, or unemployed?) I have been doing a LOT of reading. I think the best book I have read since moving up here is Olive Kitteridge, by Elizabeth Strout. I have the pleasure of meeting her the day after she won the Pulitzer prize for the book. It can be best described as a book of short stories but they all intertwine so the book is wonderfully amazing. If anyone has any recommendations, please send them my way!

I am finally starting to post some pics of our place, below is the living room. I absolutely LOVE the couch, it is so comfy! Stay tuned, next up will be the dining room and kitchen!

this is what I do with some of my free time...

I'm working on expanding my recipe collection so we don't have the same few meals every night. I recently made meatballs from scratch, didn't follow a recipe at all, just put in what I thought and they were awesome. We also made our own calzones 2weeks ago, asiago mushroom sausages and mushrooms in one and pepperoni in the other.

I also made my own pasta sauce on Monday night, but I didn't take a photo of it, but it was really good mix of a red and cream sauce. I think there are a few things I could do make it taste even better.

I really want to start baking but we don't have a mixer and the one I want is the coveted kitchenaid mixer in teal. So until we have a few couple hundred dollars to spend on a mixer my baking dreams will be put on hold...

lost in the mountains...

Scott and I had this great idea to go on a hike around the trails by his work last weekend since he was technically on call and we couldn't venture to far away from Oxnard. BAD IDEA! The hike started out great, and then we got to this point were there was a U in the trail and it seemed like the trail would bring us back to where we started, this was not the case. We started out at 9:30 am and hit the U at about 10:30, so we were thinking we should be back to the car around 11:30 to eat our lunch on the rocks at the beach. At about 11 am his phone started ringing, it was his work, but because we were in the middle of the mountains his phone kept cutting out. We keep walking on the trail thinking we were heading back and since he technically has to be able to get into work within an hour we thought we would be fine. Again, wrong! At about 11:15 we look like we are further in the mountains than we were 45 minutes ago and we still couldn't get any reception. Then we ran into a few bicyclists and asked which way to go as were at a fork in the road.(This was a very literal fork in the road and we were both pondering which way was the "right way" and to be honest, had we not asked we would have taken the other path and who knows where we would have been!) They steered us in the right direction but also let us know we were about 5 miles away from the end of the trail!!!! At this point Scott is flipping out because he might have to go into work and we have no idea when the hell we are going to get to our car. We started running on the trail and finally made it to the end at noon. One would think that we were finally ok, but we came out very far from where our car was and for a while we didn't even know which direction to go to find out car. At about 1 pm we finally reached the car and our lunch!

This by far was the most intense adventure I have been on with Scott. We figure that we hiked about 10 miles and probably ran about 3-4 of those miles......
