inspiration workshop {the beach}

Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop!

I am so excited to be a part of Gussy's Inspiration workshop!
What is the inspiration workshop??
Glad you asked! Gussy dreamed up this wonderful idea, to share what gives us inspiration. Each Friday she will email out a prompt for the next Thursday.
This weeks topic is the beach!

I love the beach, the beach is my home, the beach is my place to get away, my comfort and my fun.

Growing up in the Navy you are always near the ocean, thus I have been a water/beach baby since I was a youngin'.

Growing up in Hawaii and San Diego we were always at the beach, ALWAYS!

This time two years ago I was visiting my parents in Guam. I had such a great time spending 2 weeks with just them. We went to beach every day.

with beaches like this how could you not??

Guam July 2009

Guam July 2009

We took a belated honeymoon to the Mexican Riviera {playa del carmen} last November.
It was ah-maz-ing!

We went to the beach, read, had fruity drinks, went to the pool and repeat. All for 7 glorious days.

It was just what scott and I needed to get back to a happy place. We both go 1000 miles a minute and so having a relaxing beach vacation was just what we needed.

Mexico November 2010

Of course our fur baby loves the beach too!

Khloe June 2011

Scott and I have been talking about making an investment in a cabin on a lake. It isn't something we can do tomorrow, but since we are going to be moving every few years with the Navy we think a lake house will be a great investment and then we can go and visit whenever we want and be on an instant beach vacation {it is weird for me to call a lake the beach, just sayin'}

whimisical wedding wednesday {mustard yellow}

welcome back to another edition of whimsical wedding wednesday.

I am obsessed with mustard yellow as of late, and what a perfect fall color mustard yellow is.

1. lovely wedding details  {my bff's amazing etsy shop}
2. via 3. via 4. via

The name plate holders would add a perfect splash of color for a mustard themed wedding, not too over the top, just right.

I absolutely love the bib necklace from red egg boutique, it would be perfect for bridesmaids if you didn't want to have a bold dress but instead just add a pop of color.

Such a cute fall inspired bridal shower invite from trinity st. studio

the bouquet is so different is uses succulents and billy balls flowers, such a gorgeous combination.

these colors are so warm and fallish.

I love autumn, I think it might be my favorite season.

A mustard yellow dress would be fantastic for an autumn wedding.

It would pair so nicely with a fuchsia/burgundy color and brown.

1. via 2. via 3. via

The first dress has such a simple, classic and timeless silhouette and then adding the bright mustard yellow gives it a fun twist.

The second dress would be perfect for a country themed wedding with cognac colored cowboy boots

The third dress has a retro vibe to it and would be fantastic for a more funky wedding.

What colors are you loving?

What is the inspiration workshop??
Glad you asked! Gussy dreamed up this wonderful idea, to share what gives us inspiration. Each Friday she will email out a prompt for the next Thursday.

"Using the prompt snap a photo or find a photo online {be sure to give proper photo credit} of your interpretation of the prompt. You can use text to describe it, or just let the photo tell the story ~ it’s up to you"

This weeks prompt is sunshine.

I LOVE SUNSHINE!

I love it deep down into my bones, I feel on top of the world on a sunny day.

When I think of sunny days growing up I think of living in Hawaii and the entire family spending weekend days at the beach and my mom bringing us to the base pool in the summer.

{Bellows beach in Hawaii, we spend many days here via}

Scott and I are huge lovers of sunshine.

We love to be outdoors, hiking, running, walking khloe, going to the beach, all super fun stuff.

It really is a great way to unwind, leave all the drama at home and enjoy the beauty that God has created.

Moving to our house on base has truly been a blessing, we spend so more much time outdoors now.

We spend most week nights and weekend mornings sitting on our back patio. It is such a simple pleasure, we are beyond grateful to finally have our own private yard area.

{Khloe also loves our backyard, isn't her smirk mischievous?!}

I am also loving the color mustard yellow {I'm even wearing it today, hehe}

{how fun is this pillow?? via etsy shop: bedbuggs}

inspiration workshop {pamper yourself}

"Using the prompt {remember they’ll be sent out on Fridays}, snap a photo or find a photo online {be sure to give proper photo credit} of your interpretation of the prompt. Share the photo(s) you find through a post on your blog on Thursday, and come back to my blog to link-up. {You’ll receive the prompt for your post the Friday before.} Please link posts appropriate with that week’s prompt. You can use text to describe it, or just let the photo tell the story ~ it’s up to you"

This weeks topic is all about how you pamper yourself.

Pampering is huge in my book.

You need to recharge your batteries to keep going.

I get a massage every few months, usually when I feel like my body has been has been hit by a bus {crazy I know, but my body feels like that when i get into crazy work schedules and crazy social life schedules}

The best massage I have ever had was on our honeymoon in mexico. we did a 90 minutes couples massage and it was so amazing, just thinking about it makes me want another one!

{on my way to getting the best massage ever!}

I regularly get my little tootsies pampered with a pedicure. I'd say about every 5-6 weeks I get a pedicure {eeek, that will probably happen less once I quit working}

It is fantastic me time. Even if I go with a girlfriend it isn't to chat, we go and catch up on magazines.  I love to sit in the massage chair, get me toes all pretty and clean and of course get a calf massage.

Another pamper myself indulgence is brunch with the gals. a yummy breakfast, a big cup of coffee and girl talk. always helps to re-energize my soul! {think total sex and the city brunch meet ups}

Doesn't this look like the perfect place to have girl talk and drink coffee, mimosas and laugh??

whimsical wedding wednesday {color palattes}

I love seeing ideas for wedding colors. They also inspire me for various crafts and or decor ideas around the house.

When I was planning my wedding I realized I needed to pick a color palatte before I could really start to figure out my decor, party favors, bridesmaid dresses, guys tux etc.

Here are some of my current favorite wedding color combinations

I love the bright orange and fuchsia and then the gray to balance it out.

Having the guys wear a gray suit or tux is a out of the norm and I dig it.

These colors are my current favorite for anything i buy, see, touch, or make!

I love the different shades of blue and green and then the pop of peony pink
{I had peonies in my wedding and i cannot get enough of them!}

It is not as bold as the orange and fuchsia but it still makes a statement.

There are so many different places you can find your color inspiration, bouquet of flowers, store windows, the pattern on a dress, the girl ordering her coffee at starbucks, and of course my  latest obsession pinterest

check me out at these blogs!{a guest post and a customer love post}

wow, again, it has been so busy I haven't had a chance to share some other fun blog news...
