red velvet pancakes and a powerful sunday at church

Thank you all for the kind words related to Friday's post. My heart feels so much better having shared my struggle.

This weekend was so wonderful, maybe even a bit magical.

Friday night Liz and I went to get a pedicure which then turned into appetizers and drinks at fun new hip place in old town Camarillo. {places like this are hard to come by around here so we will for sure be back!}

Saturday we took Liz's new car for a little road trip to Santa Barbara for red velvet pancakes{they were amazing!!}, sun, shopping and sangria. We found some amazing deals {think $30 for a pair of $200 designer jeans, that fit like a glove!}

Saturday evening I admit I was missing the hubby big time and had a hard time falling asleep, combined with the time change I got about 5 hours of sleep. I am so glad that I did not lay in bed Sunday morning but instead got up, took a quick shower, threw my hair in a ponytail, put on my new jeans and a cute sweater, made a cup of hazelnut dunkin donuts coffee to go and headed to church.

WOW, is all I have to say.

The music yesterday moved me beyond words. I tend to get a bit teary eyed at some of the worship songs as the engulf my heart. Yesterday was extra special. The first few songs with done as an acoustic version and then the last 2 songs were sang A Capella. The entire congregation praising Jesus without any fancy sounds. Just our voices, raw for the Lord to hear and for each of us to soak up. I was so overcome with the Holy Spirit, it was amazing.

The message shared by the pastor was also perfect. We discussed Hebrews 1:1-2. The message was simple yet so powerful. I was writing as fast as my little hand could go, my heart and my head were open, taking in and hanging on to every word he spoke. It was all so very clear.

The message focused on God creating humanity to have a relationship with him. he comes to us and reveals himself, but often times we think he isn't there because we demand he speak to us on our terms, our time table etc. The Lord as revealed to Scott and I that he is in control and that it is his time and terms. Once we realized that and got over our own agenda things became so much clearer {this is of course very much a work in progress}.

The pastor preached about putting Christ at the center of everything. This message has been beyond apparent to Scott and and I in the last year. We are working to make sure Christ and our walk with him is at the center of everything in our lives; our marriage, his work, my work, our family and the decisions we make, E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G.

The most powerful thing our pastor said yesterday was "GOD ENTERED YOU INTO THAT TRIAL TO FIND JESUS." How beyond true those words are for Scott and I. God changed the timeline for Scott in OCS to strengthen his walk with the Lord. My walk with the Lord has grown by leaps and bounds in dealing with our fertility issues. I have to remember it isn't about me, ever, it is ALWAYS about God.

What a powerful and moving message yesterday was.

How was your weekend?

p.s. this thursday is my 3 year blog-ivesary. Be sure to come back for a BIG giveaway!
