more on my weight loss journey {what i wore now verses 20lbs heavier}

Wednesday, hump day. half way through the week.

We are also half way through our time here in Florida, one more month! hallelujah!

As I was getting this picture ready I realized it was a dress that I have worn on in a wiww post at least 3 other times. I wore it last July to see Sugarland in concert.

I decided to do a little comparison so you can see my weight loss. I lost 22 pounds in the beginning of 2012. These pictures might not be the best comparison photos, but you can for sure see the weight loss in my face!

I also wanted to share some tips with you for maintaining the weight loss. I was so afraid that I would gain it all back this summer between our cross country move and hotel living.

I used weight watchers to loose 22 pounds. I just did the online membership. I tracked my points via my iphone and loved it. You can read more about it here.

A few things that I have learned along the way:

-When you need to eat out in a pinch go with a 6 inch turkey sandwich on wheat, no cheese or mayo from subway{add a ton of veggies}.  The baked lays chips are like 3 points for a serving. Totally curbs the chips craving.

-If I found myself in a situation where I couldn't eat the best food I made sure to not totally give up. A great example is a sandwich I bought in an airport. I only used the bottom half of the bread, I took off 3 of the 4 slices of cheese and whipped off the mayo. It was still very likely not in my daily points range with all my other meals but at least I did what I could to make the best of the situation.

-If you have a bad day it isn't the end of the world. Tomorrow is a new day. Start fresh. One bad day isn't going to ruin all your hard work.

-Meal plan!! I need to know what to make for dinner so when I get hungry I don't just eat mindlessly. I need a plan!

-Drink water! Get rid of soda! I see so many people complain about not being able to loose weight and then they drink 3-4 sodas a day! that is like 400 plus calories! An extra 2800 calories a week! You need to burn 3500 calories to loose 1 pound, so cutting out soda for a month would likely mean a few pound weight loss with out doing anything else.

-Add things like lemons, limes, strawberries, mint, basil etc to make your water taste yummy!

-Alcohol: it is pricey but skinny girl margaritas are my bff. I add a big squeeze of lime and let the ice melt a little, strong and low in points, total win!

-Always have tons of fruit and veggies on hand. Fruit curbs  my sweet cravings and celery with salsa or carrots with hummus totally curbs my constant salty and crunchy craving.

-Happy hour: If I know I am going to go out to eat at a place that doesn't have healthy food options I eat some fruit and veggies before I go. It fills me up a bit and ensures I get something healthy in my belly.

Weight Watchers has some great recipes, as does skinny taste. This website has a ton of yummy recipes and gives you the weight watchers points on tons of the recipes.

I feel so much better physically, emotionally and mentally 22 pounds lighter. It is so great to put on an outfit and not look in the mirror and cringe.

I totally agree with the flavored water rule. I hate water, but add some lemon in it and I can almost enjoy it.

You look great! I love that dress...and I'm so impressed by your weight loss. I still have a few post baby pounds to lose, even 4 years later...need to buckle down and work on it! :)

Wow, this post couldn't have come at a better time! I've been having trouble with this bad ankle i have, and i won't go to the Dr. cause i know he'll say to loose weight, so that's what i'm doing thanks for the tips!!!

yay! I think we started ww at the same time and i too have lost 22 lbs. i should post my before and affter photos. you look great and i bet you feel so much better too? you provided great tips on here too! Are you still doing ww? i am still on it. i have 10 more to lose but i have been working on these last 10 for months b/c i fluctuate. I need to hunker down though and really try to lose. alcohol and chocolate are my weaknesses. i drink bud light which is 4 pts and i will try skinny margaritas from now on. thanks! :)gina

Great tips-I can't believe you have to burn that many calories just to loose 1 pound. I need to get on the ball then!
