what say you?

 Happy Friday Eve!

Things around here have been in rosette mode. I have spent about 8-10 hours every day this week using my glue gun. Thus my absence on my lil'ol blog. I promise to be back in full force next week.

Yesterday I said I was going to post some options for next weeks style remix post. I have a confession, I already decided what I want to style next week. So, let's pick what I'll remix the following week.

Option 1: skirt from banana republic outlet

Option 2: Tucker for Target dress

Option 3:  cotton sundress from nordstrom rack

I picked these pieces because are a year or two old.  I am going to show you how to take what you have in your closet add a few new pieces/accessories and wear the current trends on a budget.

So what do you think? Option 1, 2 or 3?

what i wore {craftcation and other fun outfits}

I can't believe it is already Wednesday! Last week I went to the craftcation conference, to say I left energized would be an understatement!

I had such an amazing time, meeting new indie biz owners, listening to some amazingly successful business owners and spending a few days with the awesome April of Marine Parents and Christina of Little Wellies.

Between the 4 day conference and Sew Funky Market this coming Saturday I am in shop overload.

I can't even begin to tell you all the helpful shop info the conference gave me. I was also able to learn from April and Christina who both have super successful shops. They gave me so much great advice, words cannot express how grateful I am to know these to women.

Here is my Friday outfit, lots of crazy note taking took place all day and then a fun happy hour to share our products.

necklace: rellas bellas/ sweater: gap/ striped top and skinnies: forever21/ toms: nordstrom

Saturday we had our classes at the Ventura City Hall building. Thanks to April for snapping this pic of me in front of the awesome view.

necklace: rellas bellas/ top & sweater: H&M/ jeans: Paige Denim via crossroads/ scarf & earrings: forever21

I usually snap a pic of my outfit every day but some are super repeats, just not that fun or not flattering at all! Here are a few outfits that I wore and loved over the last 2 weeks.

hat, necklace & top: forever21/ jacket: miley cyrus for walmart, from my sis/ jeans: Paige via crossroads/ flats: target/ bracelet: goodwill

This is my St. Patrick's day outfit. Liz and I were on a mission to find a cupcake and had ZERO luck, boo!!

sweater: ann taylor/ top, bracelets & skinnies: forever21/ leg warmers as socks: H&M/ boots: kohls

Coffee with a friend

sweater, top, necklace & skinnies: forever21/ toms: nordstrom/ flower cluster made by me

Church outfit this past Sunday. Not sure I love the outfit

top & earrings: forever 21/ belt and skirt: gap/ tights, scarf & wedges: target

Remeber this post from last week? I styled 4 looks with 1 skirt. Come back tomorrow to help me decide which piece I will use for next weeks style remix!

style remix: {1 skirt, 4 looks}

Many of my readers and friends have asked me how I come up with my outfits. I thought it would be fun to start a series where I show you how to style an item 4 different ways.

When I was working I always picked out my outfit the night before. This meant tons of clothes being tried on each night to find the perfect look. I used to have a very matchy matchy, simple look. While changing into different outfits I started noticing the things I wasn't pairing together actually looked good together. A little funky and fun.

I love mixing colors and prints. I swear I can make any color a neutral and pair it with almost anything. I think the biggest thing to remember is to be confident. If you feel good you will look good. Sometimes I have an idea of the perfect outfit in my head and then I put it on and I hate it because I don't feel like I look good.  You can rock anything if feel good about it!

If you are unsure of how to pair things in your closet try it on with everything! If you have a skirt you tend to only pair with a solid color top branch out. Put on the skirt and try on all the tops you own and see what you like. It may be a bit time consuming but if you end up finding 3 tops you never would have paired with it you just expanded your wardrobe.

My first style remix is this skirt I bought at Forever21 last spring.

outfit1:

necklace: rellasbellas/ earrings & bracelets: forever21/ top: forever21/ sweater: banana republic outlet/ tights: target. boots: nine west

I wore this exact outfit a few weeks ago to bible study and running errands. It is perfect for a bit cooler weather. {add a denim jacket and scarf and you are set for cooler weather.} I pulled colors from the skirt for the top and tights. They don't have to be the exact same color, just similar. Since I had such a bold color in my tights I decided to have my sweater and top match. Also, since I was wearing the tights with boots you only see a bit of the bright tights, thus they don't over power the outfit.

outfit: 2

hat: nordstrom/ necklace: rellasbellas/ earrings & bracelets: forever21/ top: forever21/ sandals: target

I love mixing stripes with a pattern. It is probably one of the simplest ways to add a bit of pizazz to an outfit. This would still be cute with a simple white or coral top, but the stripes add an extra bit of fun.  I could have very easily paired my orange sandals with this outfit, but the turquoise is a bit unexpected. This would be a perfect outfit to wear out for a day of fun with the hubby or girlfriends.

outfit: 3

necklace: rellasbellas/ earrings & bracelets: forever21/ top: banana republic/ wedges: old navy

This outfit is a bit dressier than the rest. It would be perfect for a fun date night with the hubby. As much as I love color these wedges totally make my legs look longer. Paired with this shorter skirt and I look like I am 6 feet tall! Another necklace option would be a simple gold necklace, but I like to be bold.

outfit: 4

necklace, bracelets & earrings: forever21/ sweater: old navy/ top: forever21/ flats: nine west

This outfit really works for anything, running errands, girls day or even to church. Since I used a lot of turquoise in the top of the outfit I like the pop of orange in the flats.

I used the same bracelets in all the outfits and the same earrings in all but one. I did this to show you that this skirt along with these tops would also be perfect to pack for a trip/vacation. Add a pair of trouser jeans, colored skinnies and another skirt and you literally have 16 plus outfit options.

What do you think? Are you ready to step a bit out of your comfort zone when it comes to you closet?

If you have any questions I'd love to help you out, ask away!

funk {and moving away from it}

Yesterday I said I would be sharing a post about blogging to link up with Ashley for blog positivity week.

The truth is I am kind of in a funk and the interwebs are not my favorite place right now. I feel like every time I get on some sort of social media site I am overwhelmed and left with a pit in my stomach. Not even just twitter or the bloggy world but fb as well. I tend to spend more time posting on twitter but as of late I don't really like to. It seems like so many people are in a bad mood or they want to bag on someone else. The same thing happens of fb, complaining about every single little thing. I know I am guilty of it but sometimes it is just too much. I have really tried to change the way I react to things and what I share with everyone.

Lately I feel like I am questioning my etsy shop. I know there is so much more I want to do and so many amazing bloggers have talked about how they don't even make the same product they originally started out with. It takes time, things evolve and I need to remember that. I don't think I am anywhere near where I want my shop to be. So when I see people being so mean and hurtful it makes me just want to say farewell and walk away. I don't want to let some one's bad attitude affect my life and thus I am lefting trying to ignore the mean and focus on the good.

The Good:

I have met some amazing women from blogging and they have been so encouraging. When I wrote this post a few weeks ago I was so touched by the words people wrote to me.

jessica, rici and me

stephanie, annie, me, molly and kristina

I went to blogher last year and met some amazing women.

I have gone way out of my comfort zone and tried things because of this little blog and the encouragment of my readers.

I never thought I would sell my creations at a market. {Let's be honest I never really thought I'd open my own etsy shop} NEVER! But with some amazing encouragment I did and I met some amazing women. {I need to find a new word to replace my constant use of the word amazing.}

april and me

brittney and me

I need to focus on the good and not worry about what other people say. Because at the end of the day I have met so many more awesome people than not and I have had so many more wonderful experiences than not.

{I apologize for this post being so all over the place, that is kind of how my head feels these days.}

mish mash monday

Hi Friends-

It is Monday and I am feeling a bit all over the place. This week is the Craftcation Conference!

Craftcation Conference logo

I am so excited! I have the schedule printed out and all the classes I want to go to marked. I think this is going to be a big weekend of ah ha moments, learning, growing and building my confidence.

Next Saturday {March 31st} is Sew Funky Market, which I am not feeling ready for! eeeeeek! Anyone wanna come over and help me revamp my display?!!? anyone...

{the necklace to the right is from my shop, hehe}

If you are a so cal local you should come out and shop. It is going to be pretty amazing!

Yesterday I felt like I was having a great hair day and feeling very pretty so I snapped a pic and printed it out to send to the hubby. In the letter he sent last week he asked for a pic of me so he could be reminded of how beautiful I am. I am pretty sure my heart melted a little when I read that part of the letter! As much as I hate him being away he sure turns into a romantic when we are apart.

I've been working on a lot of DIY projects these last few weeks and I cannot wait to share them on the blog. I have really added a lot of fun and color to our place for not a lot of money. Hopefully I will be able to work on the posts and get them up next week.

I had a really good weekend, girls night book club, relaxing, market prep and lunch with a new friend. How was your weekend?

Be sure to check out Ashley's blog After Nine to Five  this week, she is posting about focusing on the positive things about blogging. I will also be blogging about it tomorrow, so be sure to come back!

Don't forget to enter the giveaway, it ends tonight! Lots of pretties for you to win

swoon worthy saturday: {rainy day}

All this rain makes me want to get super cozy with khloe and my hubby. Since he hubby isn't here I'll spend the day getting ready for my spring market. It's in two weeks, eeek!

Even though this is a child's room I'd love to make a little reading nook like this in our next house for some lazy day reading with the hubs.

I love a good rainy day. Things just look a bit more fabulous with a little water on the ground, a pretty umbrella, wellies and a trench.

Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!

thankful for my girlfriends

Happy Friday. These weeks are just flying by! 10 more weeks until I get to see my hubby!

If we were to sit down for coffee this week I'd share with you how much I am really enjoying the girl time I am getting with my Ventura girlies. I was telling my friend Tobi, in kind of a joking way but not really joking way that I think I am at friend capacity. It sounds funny and maybe even mean, but it is coming from a good place.

I value each friendship that I have and want to be sure that I am a good friend. That means I want to know what is going on in their daily lives etc. Maybe not every.single.detail. I think you get what I am trying to say. It gets hard to keep up with everyone when I go beyond a small circle of friends. I have my circle of girlfriends in ventura, my closest bffs, my family and my bloggy friends. I of course have a different close relationship with the amazing women in my bible study and value them as well. Am I crazy for thinking that I don't want to go to a ton of new social things?

As much as I am a social person I get overwhelmed trying to be bff's with everyone. I am more of a quality of quantity kinda person.  Someone please tell me I am not crazy and you are the same way??

Ok, back to girl time. The last two weekends have included drinks and laughs with some amazing gals.

Two fridays ago we had a GNO {girls night out} for Liz's birthday. She turned the big 2-5 {making me feel old for turning 29 next month!}. We decided a little cheesecake factory fun was in order.

dressed up and ready for drinks and lots of laughs

I had a hard time deciding what to get Liz, not because I couldn't find anything but because I wanted to get her so many things! She was an amazing friend and pretty much watched Khloe the entire month of February while I was off being a jet setter.

me, the birthday girl, tobi & edith

Last Friday night Liz and I went to get a pedicure, ahhhh, one of the best and most relaxing girly things to do. We only wish we could have been sipping wine or a mojito while getting pampered. After the pedicure we decided to go out for drinks and apps. We tried a new place in old town Camarillo, it was super cute and trendy. We will be back again.

The waiter twisted our arm and we got a bottle of wine, pinot noir of course!

Saturday we headed up to Santa Barbara for a day of shopping, brunch and sangria. We also planned to get a cupcake but our shopping got in the way and all the cupcakeries were closed by the time we were ready to eat.

Cinnamon honey latte equals yumminess

After a day of shopping a nice cold drink is deserved, no? We found a place for happy hour and enjoyed a tall glass of sangria.

Tonight is book club, which basically means girls night at home. We chat about the book and everything else under the sun while enjoying drinks and food. I am hosting tomorrow so drinks include a yummy pitcher of sangria and a cheese tray.

Thinking about moving in a few months and leaving these wonderful gals makes me sad. Until then I am going to milk every opportunity to have girl time. Bewarned girls!
